  1. Plan to bring your dress on-board packed inside a carry-on suitcase since airplane closet space can be very limited.
  2. Contact the airline regarding size dimensions of bags that will fit in the overhead or under the seat in front of you.
  3. Choose a fabric for your gown that travels well.  Ideal fabrics that resist wrinkling include crepe, lace, tulle, knits and organza.
  4. Cover any rhinestones with tissue to protect against snags.
  5. Select a gown with minimal crinoline for easier packing.
  6. Cover the dress in a quality plastic bag to prevent any moisture.
  7. Place a large bow on the handle of your suitcase for clear identification and place names and address labels outside and inside the suitcase.
  8. Bring a small sewing kit for any last-minute alterations.
  9. Request a steamer be available upon arrival at the hotel for any last-minute touch-ups.
  10. Communicate well with your seamstress and ask her to help with packing suggestions.
  11. Advise the airline boarding agent that you are traveling with your wedding dress.
  12. Request priority boarding if possible.
  13. Hang the gown in an open, secure area as soon as you arrive at your destination to minimize wrinkles.

When shopping for your wedding dress, let your stylist know that you need a gown that travels well. There are so many beautiful fabric choices that are easy to pack and appropriate for the climate of your destination wedding.  Remember that Industry experts have so much knowledge that they are happy to share.
