Today we’re proud to feature the wedding of Rebecca & Joshua!

“Joshua and I met while going on a mission trip to Costa Rica with our school. We sat next to each other on the plane there and back, we talked a lot while we were there and then on the plane ride back we decided to get coffee a week later. We have talked every day since then!

Fast forward to the couple’s wedding day: “My family is Mexican and we incorporated some wedding traditions in our ceremony and in our reception. During our ceremony we did the lazo tradition, which is a wedding lasso. This is a unity ceremony that is performed after our vows are said that joins us together as a couple. We also used las arras, marriage coins, these coins were blessed by our priest. My husband gave me these coins as a promise to provide for our family. The lasso and the coins that we used in our ceremony were ones that my parents used in their wedding ceremony 27 years ago. Another thing that we did was present a bouquet to the Virgin Mary, in this we ask for her blessing.

“During our reception we had a mariachi band during cocktail hour which was one fun way to tie in my heritage to more of our wedding. We did a super fun dance during our reception called La Vibora de la Mar (snake dance), with this the bride and groom stand on separate chairs opposite from each other and we made an arch with my wedding veil, a song is played and guests run around holding onto each other and the goal is to not break the snake formation while the music gets louder. We had an incredible time at our wedding and there isn’t anything that we would want to change from our day!

The bride’s shopping experience at Kathryn’s: “Before my dress appointment at Kathryn’s I had looked at different dresses on their Instagram story highlights and took a screenshot of a couple of different dresses. When I got to my appointment I completely forgot to show my consultant the dresses I liked online. The very last dress was brought in and I could tell that it was going to be my dress. Just looking at it on the hanger, I knew it was the one. I tried it on and everything about it was perfect! I said yes to the dress and couldn’t be happier! On my way home from my appointment, I was going through my phone deleting pictures of dresses and one of the screenshots that I had was the dress that I said yes to at my appointment,” real bride Rebecca.
