Wedding planning can be very stressful and when brides hear the word etiquette, it can often create more worry! In this modern era, you’d assume such old-fashioned references to etiquette would be obsolete. However, a new wave of modern etiquette experts have taken over social media with a refreshing approach intended to help rather than intimidate.
Luckily, you can count on us to share a few of our favorite resources to find answers and politely handle unfamiliar situations. We believe that the days of strict etiquette rules intended to make you feel discouraged and inadequate are long gone. Today’s etiquette guidelines are focused on making you feel confident. Good manners have always been related to the concept of etiquette, so knowing what to do and say to make your family and friends feel at ease is the primary goal.

A young author, speaker and coach that we often refer to is Alison Cheperdak of @elevateetiquette. Alison is an excellent resource for avoiding awkward moments in relationships and work. She answers the simple questions of how to respond when you are unsure, and teaches social graces so you can shine in every setting. She has an “ask-me-anything” style which we find welcoming and useful. Examples of her videos we find helpful include:
- “Does everyone deserve a +1 at a wedding?”
- What to do “when you send invitations and they don’t RSVP”
- “How to respond when someone gives you unsolicited advice”
- “How to Politely Say No to Being a Bridesmaid”
- Elopement Etiquette
- Destination Wedding Etiquette
Another etiquette professional we feel is extremely practical is Mrs. Meyers of www.mrsmeyersetiquette.com. Mrs. Meyers is focused on making the world “kinder and respectful” through polite gestures and good manners. She has instructional videos on mobile phone etiquette, bridal shower guidelines, bridesmaid etiquette, walking in heels and descending a staircase. Always straightforward and informational, we appreciate her thoughts on etiquette for brides, basic table manners and how to address wedding invitations.

We’d love to hear your thoughts and questions on etiquette and manners. Please share them with us in the comments.
